You, Forever and Everywhere

You, in the smoke-choked back alleys of my youth:
Obscured by the haze, hidden truth.

You, on chemical evenings, on the street:
Playing with the beggar children, naked feet.

You, in her eyes, as I, with fire in my loins,
Bargain for my manhood with a fistful of coins.

You, in mute Nature’s agonizing shame,
As she falls prey to Man’s incestuous game.

You, in the staccato of guns in the night,
Incandescent with terror in life’s last light.

You, forever
You, everywhere
You, forever and everywhere.
